Leavers Mass!!!!

Leavers mass was an sad moment for me and the rest of the year 8 students from Saint Pius X school.
We started off with our year 8 reflection movie. It was so cute to see all of us on screen when we were little entrance students. The movie went on until it came up to me when I was a little entrance starter in room 1. I was so embarrassed at myself but it was good to look at and to remember the moments I had in room 1 all the way to now.

After the collect prayer Dorothy, A'leina and Rolland stood up and went to the altar and was getting ready to shine. I was up first with the first reading. It was a reading from the book of Ecclesiastes. To me I think I did a really good job at reading the first reading. I had another job it was to sing the Psalm with my other fellow singers A'leina, Angelica and Rolland. We sang "Thy Word".  We sang our heart and soul and actually nailed singing the Psalm.

Once everything was done, we the year 8's of Saint Pius x school was awarded a Bible and a Candle with all our names on it. It looked spectacular. It was made really well . We all stood proudly in front of everyone and held our new bibles and candles. That was over but there was one more thing to do. It was a farewell presentation, to one of our teachers who was leaving to Tonga and was going to be a teacher there. Her name is Miss Oldfield. We sang her a song and also received a bible and a candle. It was to see her go but great to see her start a new journey with the rest of the year 8 students that were leaving.

Mass was over and everything was done. I was so proud of all the year 8's because in everything they participated I they did it really well and I am pretty sure they were proud of themselves too.

Reflection

CAMPING AT PIHA!!!. I enjoyed walking to the beautiful waterfall. It was pretty long but it was worth the chase. Listening to the babbling noise of the water flowing down the stream.

I got to shoot a bow and arrow, aiming it to the target in front of me. Shooting an arrow for no reason was nerve racking. But I still wish I could shoot some more arrows. After a while The year 7 & 8 had dinner. MMMM that was a scrumptious Dinner. Having a barbeque and eating the yummy meat on my plate.

The last day came and it was time for me to leave Camp Piha, How sad. I arranged my clothes into my bag  and said “Goodbye” and  moved along to the bus. Looking outside as we went I was Excited and sad to leave. I was excited to leave so I could see my family again and sad because the fun was finish at camp.

In The Forest

Bailey and Samantha were walking together in the forest. Suddenly they forgot their way back. It was getting dark. Trees were rustling .  Suddenly Bailey stands still. “Can you hear that?”. Samantha looked back. She turned to the front. When she looked back Bailey was gone.  “Bailey!” Samantha said.

Bailey jumped out from behind the tree. “BOO!” Samantha jumped with fear . Bailey roars with laughter. “BAILEY!” Samantha shouted with anger .
They continued to walk.  They were getting tired . They found a giant tree to sleep under.

The next morning Bailey woke up and Samantha was gone. She was worried. Bailey got up and went searching. “Samantha!” Bailey cried out, But no answer. Bailey ran and ran but found no sign of Samantha.

Suddenly Bailey heard propellers . It was a helicopter . Someone was looking down . “BAILEY! ITS ME SAMANTHA” She yelled from up top. Workers were running into the forest. Bailey was saved. Bailey and Samantha were taken to the hospital to be checked. They returned back to their families.

Angelica and The Moon

Once long ago, Angelica was asleep in her house with her children Catherine and Dorothy. She was too looking after her nephews david and Isaiah. During the night her daughter catherine started to cried. Her daughter was thirsty so she went off to the kitchen and saw there was no water in the water pot. So she went off to the river.

While she was walking A huge yellow moon was shining so bright Angelica had a better view of where she was going. While she was walking with the water pot under her arm she finally found the river. Down the bank she went, She filled her pot with water. After filling up the pot of water she headed back home. Now Angelica was heading back home. The moon was showing her the way back.

Suddenly the moon went behind the clouds, Angelica was extremely angry at the moon so she said “ You stupid moon , I hate you!” she said so loud with her fist up at the air the moon heard her. So the moon peeked out from the clouds and saw poor Angelica on the ground, but “Poor Angelica” was a “Angry Angelica”. She shouted back “ You ugly fat moon”. The moon responded back “ You know I dislike people who shout back to me” He said in a angry voice “ You should be punished”, so he reached out to Angelica and pulled her back to him. Angelica was really frightened she grabbed a tree branch so she could stop the moon from pulling her back. When the moon had pulled Angelica back the branch snapped. The huge moon pulled her back into the sky. So there’s is Angelica now, in the moon with her tree branch.

!!!!First basketball experience!!!!

“Bounce Bounce Bounce ” went the ball. Room 7 entered the courts with excitement. I was really excited to learn how to play basketball. I ran to the other-side of the court and stood on the yellow line together with my classmates. Our instructor introduce himself, his name was Coach Bruce he said he use to be a basketball player but retired and became a coach. He got us get into groups. Bruce taught us what we are allowed to do on a basketball game. One rule was to never hold the ball and always  bounce the ball with one hand.
We played a game that one of our team mate had to flip the same coloured cone that we received from coach bruce. Running back and forth flipping the same coloured cone. After our basketball lesson I headed off back to class. I can’t wait till our next session.

Retreat!

Thursday 29 of march was a EXCITING morning. We ran into the car. Off we went . I was getting impatient . “ Are we there yet!’ I moaned . It was a EXCITING morning.

We finally got there. We were greeted by brother Philip and Johanne. I stepped inside . I had to take off my shoes.

One of the activities that we did was “Noah And The Ark”. My partner was Lavinia. We got paper bags with sticks, fake money, twigs...etc. My partner and I put made a ark with our materials.

After making our ark everyone ran to the fish pond at the back. Our ark had to float for 5 minutes. When the five minutes were over. My partner and I were relieved that our ark was still floating. We jumped up and down with joy.

It is the last day of retreat. We had mass. Father Iosefa came . After that it was time for lunch. Sadly it was now time to go. We thanked Brother and went back to school.

Opening Mass

Last Friday was Saint Pius X School’s opening mass. This was a great way to start of the year. I played the guitar with Ofa. I was also the leader for the Prayers of the faithful.

Lavinia read the introduction. After she finished we sung the entrance hymn, and the mass begun.

The special part of the mass was when the teachers went up and did the offertory. The teachers were blessed at the end of the mass. It felt really special.

I learnt from the first reading to never loaf around and to never be a burden.
My goal is to reach the national standard so I could have an awesome future.

First Tennis Experience

I had an exciting and nerve racking morning last Tuesday. Room 7 were playing tennis. Yay! But guess what? I haven’t played tennis in my life. I think I will stick to netball. But hey I had a go.

I stepped inside the tennis courts and saw our instructor. His name is Marcel. I rushed to the side of the courts and grabbed a tennis racket and a ball. We finally played.

Marcel taught us some of the basic skills of tennis. We learnt how to balance the ball on the tennis racket, I found this quite challenging. I made too many mistakes.

After practising and getting the hang of it, we played a game called “King Of The Court”. We played and played, until our 30 minutes was over. Bad luck I didn’t win but it was great fun.

It was a great experience. I think I will continue to learn how to play tennis. It wasn’t that bad. I am looking forward for next time.

Swimming Experience

Once I stepped in the pool I was freezing cold. I had goose bumps. I was shivering to death. We were running around and I was getting used to the water. We started with a game called “Captains Coming”. It was awesome and cool. My highlight was having free time and playing tag in the water. I want to know how to torpedo in the water.

I am a model

I am a special character and have a special talent to play some instrument.
I wonder if Zombies are real.
I hear the angels sing.
I see Jesus ascending to heaven.
I want to be a really good netball player.
I am a special character and have a special talent to play some instrument.

I pretend I am in heaven.
I feel a soft cloud.
I touch Jesus hand.
I worry about things happening to my family.
I cry i am in a sad mood.
I am a special character and have a special talent to play some instrument.

I understand about Jesus.
I say I believe in Jesus.
I dream of being a doctor when I grow up.

!!!!!!earthquake poem!!!!!!!!!!

Earthquakes are so horrible,
It makes your house look terrible,
I will shake as well and I’ll hate it if i get hurt,
I don’t want my arm to squirt out,
So be in a safe place,
So protect your sensitive face,
This will be the worse thing you can imagine,
so be in a place that you will be fine in.

!!!!!!Netbooks!!!!!!

WOW!! Our netbooks .

'Oh so exciting'. On Monday the 7th of March was now a significant date in our schools history. The senior syndicate was going to receive individual netbooks so no longer would we have wait for a desktop computer to be free YAY!.

First thing straight after morning tea we had a shorter time for S.S.R. Mr Coakley came and told us important stuff. Somethings like safety, security and the money.
Next Miss G, Miss Ana and Mrs Burt brought in brand netbooks. It was thrilling. We got our little netbooks to use for our education. So we opened the box and saw our netbooks. Opp! yes we all had to sign a contract which started we would use the netbooks for education purposes first, especially during class time.

Before we went on we started with a countdown from ten to one and then we turned on it with our turny on finger . Boom the screen came up with the Maniakalani logo.We typed and played games for half an hour and we were worried that Miss G was go take it away from us when she said “okay lets do some shutting down” and we were all like “oh no” what has happen but then appeared a box . We had to fill it in once before we finished we playing our games on it and had a little video clip with the web-cam. Sadly it had to go !!!!!!boooohooooooo!!!!!!! how sad.

So there it goes but we get it back on Wednesday !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

!!!The Atheltics Run Off!!!

…............................................................................................................................................
‘Oh yea!’ I am so thrilled , about the day as we are going to the athletics track as we had been preparing for weeks. Straight after morning tea St Pius , yes the whole school was going to have a run off. We are going to have a day off with no work oh yea!
My team was “GECKOS” the team that always win. Would they succeed again?

I was really excited about the day with all the cheering and chants as the flags and banners were waved about as we marched from the front of the school to the track. I was running in the 10 yr old events. Mrs Pole called for the first competitors to stepped and go to the starting post. The 5 yrs old run try so hard and there was the danger they not stay in their lanes. Me,Fetuli and Jorina was cheering on our team . We were having a great time. Kiwi’s were next to us and they were cheering for their team. I not sure who was more excited the cheer team or the winner of each race.

Finally, the waiting was over and it was the 10 yr olds turn . Yes! my time to shine under the sun. So we walked to the starting line. Most of the events had heats but we were running all- together, no finals.Well actually we were running the finals. Only one chance to shine for the Gecko’s. The twelve year olds were the last to sprint and then there was an open 800 meter race for boys and girls , and the winner was? Well they weren’t from Gecko’s. After that it was lunch time.

The straight after lunch, the junior syndicate were competition in novelty races. The Senior syndicate was busy with relays . The house team were matched against each other Tuis vs Kiwi’s and Keas vs Gecko’s. Tuis won and Keas won and so Tuis was vs keas and then all of, a sudden, Tuis won the relay’s. Congratulation's to the Tuis. To finish of the day the chant competition came up. We all did well .

The scoreboard was turned away from us so us Gecko’s were not 100% certain we had won again. Mr Coakley took hold of the microphone and called out the final result. So who had accumulated enough points to topple us off the winning platform. The 4th placed team was Keas, Kiwis were 3rd Tuis were 2nd and the last of all the one and only !!!!!!! GECKOS!!!!!!! Wooooohoooo!!!!!. that was the greatest day ever,!!!!! we won!!!!!.
